We are very excited for this community opportunity and hope to have as much input as possible from our wonderful preschool families & friends. More information about this event will be distributed over the month.
Last Thursday and Friday our preschool classes joined with the school to celebrate the Feast of St Anthony of Padua, whose feast day was on Monday June 13. Every year the school organises a variety of activities for staff and students to celebrate the feast day and this year’s was a gala event. It included a teacher swap, where our staff swapped classes with some primary staff teachers for approximately an hour, an activity afternoon where our children were able to visit another area of the school in groups to either watch a movie, make stress balls, play with the wonderful resources in the Library or stay and play at the preschool with some primary students, a very special mass and an incredible talent show.
There is always great excitement when our preschoolers join the primary students for celebrations. This was particularly evident when our Koala and Possum classes met their Year 5 buddies for the first time on Thursday. This was in preparation for the walk to St Anthony’s Church on Friday morning.
On Friday the children paired up with their buddies and walked with the rest of the school to and from the church, where we participated in a beautiful mass to celebrate St Anthony’s feast day. This was the first mass the pre-schoolers have been to this year and I was most proud of how they sat and listened so beautifully, as well as joining in to sing hymns.
The day culminated with the children singing on the stage in front of the school in the Talent Show. The Possum class sang the very cute Skidamarink song and the Koalas sang a most entertaining pirate song, complete with actions. Well done to both classes.
Healthy Harold Incursion
Healthy Harold will visit all classes in Week 10, visiting the Bilbies and Koalas on Tuesday June 28 and the Possums on Thursday June 30, in the morning. More information will be sent this week. Healthy Harold is always lots of fun and assists us in delivering the message of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We in the preschool promote healthy lifestyles by encouraging parents to only pack items that have good nutritional value and encouraging children to drink water throughout the day.
Carpark
A friendly reminder to please display the blue ELC sign on your dashboard if you are in the afternoon pick- up line. This will show staff on duty that you are an ELC parent waiting in the traffic line and help move the traffic. If you require a blue sign please ask for one.
Reports
Mid semester reports or learning summaries will be sent home next week with your child- Bilbies on Tuesday and Koalas and Possums on Friday. If your child is absent, they will be posted.
Early next term, your child’s portfolio will be sent home in preparation for parent teacher meetings.
