Welcome to Term 4!
It has been a busy start to the term with everything books! Thank you to our families who sent in photos of you sharing books with your children at home. It was heart warming to see these moments. The children also enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters for the class parades.
Preschool Orientation
This year we are holding our Preschool Orientation for 2021 families over a few sessions on Saturday the 7th of November from 9am – 12pm. This will give us the opportunity to invite families in to the ELC in restricted numbers. Covid safe regulations will be in place and we will clean after each visit. If you are a current parent and have any time to come along for some or all of the morning we would love your support. It is hoped that you could help serve morning tea, offer advice and welcome new families to our ELC St Anthony’s family. If you can help out please email us at; elc.stanthonys@cg.catholic.edu.au
Chickens
Over the last couple of weeks the students were introduced to the life cycle of chickens and ducks through the hatching program. This has been a wonderful success with much excitement and lots of great learning opportunities presented. A big thanks to Miss Bec for organising this experience. The chickens will remain at the ELC and reside in a purpose built enclosure outside. This will enhance our sustainability focus and provide the students with an opportunity to care for animals. We are very excited about this and will keep you updated on our chickens progress.
Kinder Orientation
Next week our current students will have the opportunity to visit Kindergarten in the Primary School. We will stay for a play, giving the children a chance to see what big school is like. Our St Thomas buddies will also visit over the next couple of weeks to support some students transition and connection with our neighbouring school.
BOOK FAIR
Our Book Fair will remain in the foyer for 1 more week. If you need any Christmas gifts or just want to stock up your library at home I would encourage you to purchase them from our Fair. The Preschool will receive some of the proceeds to put towards our own book collection.
Monday 26th October : Socktober and Rice Day
RICE ORDERS CLOSED |
October is World Mission Month. This year, we are Working to empower children and young adults with a disability at the Arrupe Centre in Cambodia. This centre works to care for people who are otherwise lacking support and opportunities to lead a fulfilling life. For more information, visit https://www.catholicmission.org.au/ As well as raising awareness, we are going to work to raise some funds for the Arrupe Centre. We are going to celebrate Socktober and Rice Day on Monday the 26th October (Week 3). Socktober is a Catholic Mission initiative for Mission Month. We will celebrate this on Monday 26th October where we invite our children to wear a pair of crazy socks (or their favourite socks) to school and bring in a gold coin donation for Catholic Mission. We will also be making recycled 'sockballs' at school. Sockballs are a replica of the type of ball thousands of children throughout the world use each day. We invite children to bring in any of the following items to contribute to making some school 'sockballs': - old, clean socks - plastic shopping bags or plastic bread bags - old, clean t-shirt (this may be cut up) - recycled bubble wrap, styrofoam, packing paper or anything that can be used for the inside of the 'sockball'. How to make a Sockball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPLnuvW7XFo&feature=youtu.be If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me. Peace. Donations Please - unused kitchen items
Our out of school care and Preschool programs would love any donations of unused kitchen items you have at home. We are thinking small plastic containers, funnels, seives, mixing spoons, spatulas, pots or pans etc. These items will be used to further extend our outdoor kitchen, sandpit, waterplay and anywhere else the children let their imagination take them!
Thank you in advance!
Happy Birthday to Joey, Arlen, Billy, Lewis, Leo and Emma.
We hope your day was as awesome as you!
