Over the weekend we opened the preschool to our 2023 families. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine giving families the chance to stay & play. It was wonderful to see the children comfortable and quickly settle into their new surroundings. A huge thanks to our wonderful staff for joining us on Saturday and helping to welcome our new families at the start of their Catholic schooling journey.
A FEW REMINDERS
· Clearly label all student items
· NO toys are to be sent to preschool
· Please do not pack ‘treats’ in your child’s lunchbox. All lollies, chips and chocolate should be consumed at home as ‘sometimes’ food. At preschool, the children need healthy food to sustain a busy day of play. If you are looking for lunchbox ideas grab a pamphlet from the foyer.
ART SHOW
This term we are holding a preschool art show in our playground. The children have been studying famous artists including Matisse, Kandinsky and many more. The show is a culmination of their great work. It will be held across 2 afternoons giving all families including any grandparents and other family members the opportunity to pop in. For a small donation you can purchase your child’s artwork. Any purchased pieces will be sent home the following week. The money raised will be donated to St Vincent de Paul for their Christmas Appeal.
SAVE THE DATES
Mini Colour run – 25th November
ART SHOW – 29th November & 2nd December
Christmas picnic – 13th of December
This term the students will go to the zoo and the local library. More information will be sent home about these excursions with a request to sign permission notes.
TRANSITION TO KINDERGARTEN
Both St Anthony’s and St Thomas the Apostle will hold Kindergarten Orientation visits this term. This is a chance for the children to familiarise themselves with the classrooms and meet the teachers.
As part of this transition, our preschool plus students will have the chance to join OOSCA later in the term. OOSCA is the after school care program at St Anthony's Parish Primary School. The children will be supported by our staff and the visits will assist in their possible transition into similar programs next year. We will send parents information regarding changed pick-up arrangements on these afternoons.
Please contact your child's primary school for enrolment forms and extra details about outside of school hours care for next year.
IMPORTANT - change of last day of term
Important information regarding an end of term change of date
We have been advised by the Catholic Education Office that the last day for families this term is Thursday December 15th (Staff will attend on the 16th Dec). In 2023 it will be Thursday December 14th (Staff will attend 15th Dec). Catholic Education has made this decision to align all students and staff across primary and preschool settings.
You are invited to Monday morning coffee. The P & F are hosting an early morning cuppa at the primary school canteen from 8.30am each Monday. This is an opportunity to meet other parents and build community. There is no need to rsvp, just turn up and join in.
Did you order sushi for the canteen tuck day?
A friendly reminder that the SUSHI Tuck Day is this Wednesday, 9 November.
Would you like a copy of the St Anthony's 2022 yearbook? Our preschool children are featured on a number of pages throughout the book and it is a lovely reflection on the year.
If you would like to order please do so via Qkr! (click on 'school payments' then '2022 Yearbook ELC & Primary School'). The cost is $30 per book.
Please note that siblings at St Anthony's Parish Primary School will already receive 1 copy per family.
Orders will close at 10am on Monday the 14th of November and we are unable to accept any orders after this time.
If you would like to order but are unable to make payment by this time, please email beth.lehmensich@cg.catholic.edu.au
If you have any questions, please contact Beth Lehmensich on the above email address.
Do you know anyone who is looking for a wonderful preschool for the remainder of this year? We have a 5 day per fortnight position available in our Bilbies, beginning of the week class. We are able to take new enrolments or increase a Possums Class enrolment if you wanted to go to 5 days per week for the remainder of the year. Please see Michelle or Emma in the office if you would like to discuss this great opportunity.
