Welcome back
We have had a great start back and look forward to a busy Term 3. With COVID restrictions still in place we will continue to ask families to social distance in the foyer with only 4 families using this space. All people who enter through our wooden door are asked to check in using the QR code CBR App. Thanks in advance for your assistance as we continue to align our procedures to current Health and Catholic Education advice.
If your child is unwell and has flu like symptoms, please keep them at home.
Parent/teacher interviews
Parent/teacher interviews will start next week. An sZapp message was posted that includes a link to book a time to see your child’s class teacher. The children will take their portfolios home for you to look at before the interview. We encourage you to sit down with your child to look at all the great learning that has taken place in Semester 1. Included in the portfolio is a feedback form. Please take the time to fill this out and return it at your parent/teacher interview along with the portfolio. The children will continue to fill their folder this semester and it will be sent home at our Christmas celebration at the end of the year.
If you require assistance to book in a parent/teacher interview time, please contact us.
Enrolment for 2022
Our official enrolment period has now closed, and we have offered places for our 2022 families. In addition to this we have contacted families to join us soon for enrolment interviews. These will be held at our Preschool and at St Thomas the Apostle in Kambah. We look forward to welcoming our new families at the beginning of their Preschool experience.
Staffing changes for this term
This term Winnie will be on leave. We will warmly welcome Imogen who currently works in After School Care and Steph who works in the Bilbies to join the Possums at the end of each week. Steph will work the alternating Wednesdays and Imogen will work Thursday and Fridays.
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. In Selina’s Welcome to Country at the NAIDOC mass she called for all people to help heal country by planting a tree. This simple yet practical idea is a great way for us all to be involved.
Grandparents’ virtual assembly
Our St Anthony's community loves welcoming our grandparents and grand friends into our school each year. However, this year, we are still unable to have a gathering this large and as such, will be hosting a virtual assembly for our grandparents and grand friends to engage with remotely.
Pope Francis has decided to institute a Church-wide celebration of a World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Starting this year, it will be held on the fourth Sunday of July, close to the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.
As such, we will be celebrating our Grandparents and Grand Friends Day on Friday the 30th of July. Each grade will present a performance item that will be streamed live for our grandparents and grand friends to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.
We invite you to share the following link with the grandparents and grand friends of your children which will be streamed on Friday the 30th of July at 12pm. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83372451538
We encourage you to reach out and, where possible, visit and spend time with grandparents, grand friends and the elderly who have been hit particularly hard during this time.
Pope Francis released a beautiful message for all grandparents and the elderly earlier this year, we ask that you pass this message on to the grandparents and elderly in your families and communities.

Special days like these are not possible without the fantastic support of families. If you can help, please pop in or call to let me know. Help will be needed from 10.30 – 2.00. With thanks Maree Alchin (Canteen Manager) 6231 4022.
As you would all be aware, the situation surrounding the global pandemic continues to affect us here in Canberra. We ask that you all please ensure you continue to follow and adhere to all of the latest ACT, or relevant states, health advice. This is particularly important with the close proximity and large number of cases in surrounding NSW.
This includes making sure we continue to adhere to the restrictions in place around social distancing and staying home (and getting tested) if you are unwell.
Thank you for following our 4 adult restrictions in our foyer. We understand and appreciate that it is cold and waiting outside isn't ideal however, we appreciate your ongoing support.
We now ask and encourage families to please 'check in' using the CBR QR code available in our foyer IF you are going through the wooden door into the corridor or rooms. Thank you.
