Thank you for a great Term 3 and for your continued support adhering to restrictions and adjusting to the many changes. This year has certainly presented us with challenges, however our ability to meet the changes with flexibility and resilience has highlighted our great, collective community strength. We hope your Term Holiday has started off fabulously and that they continue that way! We look forward to seeing you all soon.
At Preschool the students are encouraged to remain curious about God’s wonderful world and discover through play how they can impact their own environment. In prayer time the students are introduced to the Gospels through Godly Play and interactive activities. We are grateful to be working with Mary Kenyon who is supporting staff to develop a rich, authentic and play based framework for Spiritual and Religious Development.
The students love exploring ‘beyond the fence’ where they experience and foster a genuine care and respect for nature. The natural world is integrated in our indoor environment and creates a deep sense of calm and connectedness in our classrooms. This term the Koalas have been journaling during their nature walk. Each child carries a calico bag that contains their special journal and a pencil. They find a ‘sit spot’ and for a short time they sit still, listen, and draw things that inspire them in nature. It’s a wonderful experience with so many benefits!
BOOK WEEK
Book Week will be held next term in Week 2. This is always a wonderful week with many literacy related activities on offer. It’s a great way for staff, families, and students to share their love of reading and to have lots of fun! Our Book Week parades are an opportunity for your child to dress up as their favourite book character. Please also encourage your child to bring along the book (labelled clearly with their name. The Parades will be held on Tuesday 20/10 for Bilbies and Friday 23/10 for Koalas & Possums. At the beginning of next term, we will confirm the Parade times and advise of any audience restrictions that may apply.
This year we would love families to send in a photograph or short video of you sharing a book with your child. These treasured moments will be collated for our students and shared to emphasise the importance of developing these reading opportunities at home. Please email them to us before next term at elc.stanthonys@cg.catholic.edu.au
BOOK FAIR
During Book Week our Book Fair will be displayed in the foyer. You are welcome to look at the books when visiting the ELC and they will be available to purchase via QKR. We ask that families do not handle the books and we will adhere to our current 4 parents in the foyer restrictions at this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
