St Anthony’s Feast Day
When asked which Saint we were celebrating last week one of our beautiful students Thomas declared ‘Saint Friday’!! Whilst we all agreed that we do worship Fridays it was the life of Saint Anthony and his Feast Day that evoked celebrations at school. Our Preschool students enjoyed meeting their buddies and joined a trivia game up at the ‘big’ school. Both the Koalas and Possums class recorded a song and the Acknowledgement of Country to be shown at an Aged Care facility and the staff and students ate pizza and pasta for an Italian style lunch. A huge thanks to Beth and her team for including the ELC in the festivities.
Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package
The Australian Government has announced its extension of the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package (Relief Package) and the plan to return to Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) payments.
The Relief Package will be extended until 12 July 2020, in line with the start of the 2020/21 CCS financial year.
From 13 July 2020, CCS and ACCS will re-commence.
If your child is booked in for our Holiday Care Program this July, please be mindful that fees will apply from the 13 July 2020. Holiday Care information is in our last e-newsletter, hardcopies are in the foyer and we can email them upon request.
If you have any questions regarding your payments, please contact Emma at the Front Office.
Garden help
If you are a keen gardener, landscaper, tradie or general handy person we would love your help over winter to spruce up our garden and support us to make a few changes to our outdoor environment. We have grand plans for chickens and other outdoor spaces but with a great vision and limited budget we need community support. Please contact us if you think you can help.
Parent/Teacher interviews
In Week 2 and 3 of next term we will be holding our Parent/Teacher interviews. These are 15-minute meetings. If you would like an extended meeting please contact your child’s class teacher. Prior to this week we will send home the students’ portfolios. This will give you the opportunity to look at them with your child and chat about all the amazing experiences that are documented. You will be asked to return the portfolio at your child’s interview to inform your discussion and enable it to be continued over Semester 2. Further information will follow regarding times and dates that the meetings will be held.
Vinnies Winter Appeal
This winter we will be collecting the following items for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Your support to donate as new or new items will be greatly appreciated. Please place items that you wish to donate in our bucket in the foyer. We are hoping for;
- Gloves
- Sleeping bags
- Jackets and Jumpers
- New Socks (men's, ladies, children)
The School Mission leaders will collect and sort the items once a week.
Pyjama Day
In addition to collecting items for the Vinnies Winter appeal, we will also be having a pyjama day on Monday of Week 10 (29th June). The Bilbies and Koalas attending Preschool on this day will be invited to wear their pjs and bring in a donation - gold coin or larger - to support Vinnies. Following the bushfires and the financial impact of COVID, they have a bigger job this year than usual and appreciate our support.
Mini Menu
Thank you for helping us to support the school canteen through lunch order purchases. A reminder that all lunch order items need to be chosen from the ELC Mini Menu. Meal/Deal offers are not one of the options for our students. The menu is in QKR. Our menu is modified to ensure that our students continue to eat a healthy and well-balanced diet whilst still being able to enjoy the excitement of a lunch order.
Any ‘special’ lunches throughout the year will also be available for our Pre-schooler’s. We will advertise these in our e-Newsletter and through SZapp.
If your child is celebrating a birthday and you would like to send in something to Preschool to share, please be reminded that we are a nut and traces of nut free environment. During the current climate we have asked families to provide individually packaged items. This can include; small packets of jelly beans, ice blocks, popcorn, colouring pencils, stickers etc.
Morning drop off time
As restrictions ease and we have discontinued taking temperature checks in the morning we will continually revise our drop off procedures. At present, we need to maintain physical distancing in the foyer and we appreciate the hygiene practices that have been adopted by all families at drop off. To help ease congestion in the foyer we will allow students to enter the classrooms from 8.50. This hopefully gives some parents who are able the flexibility to drop their children off a little earlier whilst still allowing the staff enough time to prepare the classrooms. Similarly, we will exit students in the afternoon early if parents arrive for pick up before 3pm. Thanks, for your ongoing support and patience. We have witnessed the children’s increased confidence and greater independence in the morning that has been a lovely repercussion of the changed arrangements.
A big Happy Birthday to Marco, Kevin, Ailyn, Jack, Zoe and Max who recently celebrated their birthday. We hope you had an amazing day!
Help support Vinnies Winter Appeal by placing donated gloves, sleeping bags, jackets, jumpers and new socks (men's, ladies, children) in our basket in the foyer.
And on Monday of Week 10 (29th June) the Bilbies and Koalas attending Preschool on this day will be invited to wear their pjs and bring in a donation - gold coin or larger - to further support Vinnies. Thank you.
The ELC Holiday Care Program will be run from Monday 6th - Friday 17th July.
