This week on Wednesday you would have had the opportunity to join the Discovering Resilience webinar for parents and carers. I hope those of you who joined, found it helpful and came away with some practical ideas you can use at home to support children in your family in practicing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. I joined the webinar and found some of the tips for practicing mindfulness with young children really helpful. Ideas like working on a puzzle together or doing some mindful colouring. Some of the things we use at preschool in encouraging mindfulness and helping to calm kids when they may be feeling overwhelmed or a bit anxious, are bubble blowing, making a collage using stickers, or even just some time playing with playdough. If you missed the webinar on Wednesday and would like the opportunity to watch it, you can access it over the next week or two using the following link:

The students from the Possums and Koalas class had a lovely time this week painting some branches we collected from the pine forest. We are going to use these to create a Gratitude tree in our foyer. This is the first of our Community Projects with the Resilience Project. You can read all about this project using the link below. We would love you and your children to add to our gratitude tree. We are going to call it the Happy Hearts Tree. We will have some heart shapes available at the ELC that you and your child can take the time to decorate, and record something that you are thankful for to add to our tree. We can’t wait to see our Happy Hearts tree come to life in the foyer, full of all the different things that make our hearts happy!
