Today was such a beautiful day as we invited all our lovely Grandparents and other family members or friends in to visit. The children were so excited to share the Preschool with their special family members. It was so nice to see children reading stories together with their Grandparents, making things with playdough, painting together, building things and spending time enjoying our Preschool pets.
I think it was particularly special to be able to invite our families in after such a long hiatus from these kinds of events since the arrival of Covid. It was truly such a joyous day and such a treat for the children (and for the Grandparents too I think!). Thanks everyone for sharing the day with us and helping to organise our special visitors. As teachers we are blessed to work with such beautiful supportive families.
Welcome Flopsy and Mopsy
I couldn’t write this week’s newsletter without mentioning and welcoming our new and much loved preschool pets – Flopsy and Mopsy! Each of the classes have spent time sharing with the children all the things we need to do as responsible pet owners to care for our bunnies. They have learnt about the foods they can and can’t eat, their need to be in a warm safe space (especially during cold Canberra winters) and the way to hold the bunnies gently and carefully so they feel safe.
A very big thank you to Miss Kim who has put lots of research into bunny care and goes out of her way to ensure our girls are very well looked after!!
BOOKWEEK 2023
Book Week is fast approaching! Our fantastic school librarian – Danielle Smith – has organised lots of events for the children to enjoy throughout the week. Please take the time to have a look at her Book week information note.
Our Book Week Dress up days will be held on Tuesday the 22nd of August for the Bilbies. Parents are welcome to come to the ELC and see the Bilbies Parade on Tuesday morning. We will aim to start the parade around 9:15 and Bilbie’s parents will be welcome to stay on after and join us for some early morning tea and perhaps spend some time reading a book or two with the Bilbies students.
Book week Dress up day for the Possums and Koalas will be Wednesday the 23rd of August. We will be heading to the big school to join in the Book Parade at St Anthony’s at 9:30. Parents are most welcome to come in and join us at the school for the parade.
On Friday we will be continuing our Book Week celebrations, with a Book and Brunch morning tea. You are welcome to join us at the ELC between 11.30 and 12. Bring some morning tea and a favourite book to share – we will also have plenty of books on hand at the ELC for you to enjoy reading with our preschoolers.
We understand that at times it is hard for family members to get away from work and other commitments to join us on the day. Please be assured that no children will miss out on the fun! Children are always welcomed to join in with other families or can spend the time reading and snacking with our ELC staff.
Book Fair: We will not be hosting a book fair at the ELC this year. Families are welcome to explore the Book Fair set up in the library at St Anthonys and can a purchase a book for your child from there.
We hope you remembered to order the wonderful photos of your child/ren!
Orders closed over the weekend, however please contact Paul if you missed the deadline and would still like to order.
