We had such a lovely time catching up with our mums and grandmas for our Mother’s Day Breakfast. Thank you for embracing these mornings with such enthusiasm despite the chilly mornings! The children so loved spending time with you at the ELC. I think after Covid we are a little out of practice at having mums and dads and grandparents come along and join us for things, but please know you are always welcome at our ELC.
Over the next few terms we would really like to grow our parent involvement. If you would like to come in and help in the preschool, I know each of the classes are looking for some parents who would be happy to come in and share about their work in the community. In previous years we have had some soccer coaching, musicians play for us, tipper trucks to view, nurses and mechanics. If you would like to come in and share about your work, please send a seesaw message or email to your class teacher so they can arrange a time. If you would just like to come in one morning or afternoon and help with a cooking activity, support with an act activity, play soccer or read some stories with a small group please also let teachers know so they can arrange a time for you. We do ask that parent helpers and other volunteers have a WWVP card, which can be organised through ACCESS Canberra.
We are really excited about building student, teacher and parent well being through our involvement in the Resilience Project this year. Included in our Newsletter this week is is an information letter about the project and the ways you can get involved as a family. Each class has a cuddly Koala for home visits, and the children are beginning to have turns bringing this home with an experience journal. The different pages of these journals have simple well being focused experiences for you to do with your child, and these link in with the GEM principles that underpin the program (Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy).
Emotional Literacy is our ability to label the emotions we are feeling.
Gratitude is defined as being thankful for what you’ve got.
Empathy is thinking about what others are feeling. It’s about being kind to others.
Mindfulness is bringing your attention to the present moment. It builds awareness of thoughts, emotions and surroundings, as well as a sense of calm.
COOLER WEATHER
As the weather is cooling off please feel free to send your child to preschool with a jacket and beanie. Any jacket is fine, so long as it is comfortable and allows for freedom of movement. Please label any clothing clearly with your child’s name.
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to Noah and Tamika,
