How blessed I have felt being a part of leading this wonderful STA community. Thank you especially for the memorable farewell and festival of Michael send off for Mr Bradley.. Michael sends his gratitude and thanks to each of you.
I have been very grateful for the opportunities of getting to know all of our wonderful students. As I have visited the classrooms this week, I have shared conversations with our students around our school rules:
What does being Responsible, Being Respectful and Being a Learner Look like and feel like?
This week has begun with some wonderful celebrations for book week.
Next week we are very excited to host our Fathers’ Day breakfast celebration. Please keep an eye out for further details on Compass.
Silence and stillness does have a magic to it. It doesn't matter where you find it — in your home, your workplace or your classroom. However in our fast-paced world it is getting harder and harder to find. Maggie Dent is an author who explores the cognitive and emotional benefits of silence and stillness, demonstrating how crucial it is for children as well as adults. One of the books she has written Saving our kids from a chaotic world talks about ways we can support our children through some of the challenges they face in our world. I have found this to be a great resource.
Christian Meditation is a tool that we are beginning to use in our school as a valuable strategy to provide our students with stillness during their day. These opportunities of stillness not only provide a space for our students to be with God but enable each child to breathe and take charge of their bodies and minds. I encourage you to talk with your child about Christian meditation.
We pray and support our Year 4 and 5 students who are celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist this weekend with Father Tony.
Father Tony led us in prayer on Monday and we remembered the Feast of The Assumption Mary, celebrated on the 15th August. We shared the prayer of Hail Mary together.
I invite you to pray the Hail Mary with your family.
Goal 3 of our Annual Improvement Plan focuses on the streamlining of communication and establishing authentic pathways for students as they move to their next class in 2023. To support this plan, one aspect of this has been the development of COMPASS as a unified platform across our system to record student information and communicate with families on the one platform.
As a Parent and Educator, I value the importance of having one common platform for school communication and appreciate the frustration when communication is missed or on multiple modes of technology..
As part of the timeline to initiate this change, term 3 has been allocated to ensure all STA families are able to log on and access Compass. This can be done by using the following process:
PARENT PORTAL COMPASS
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/compass-school-manager/id778415974
The Compass Parent Portal is an online portal that lets you access important information about your child’s school and their progress. Including school reports.
The portal is accessible via the web and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device) and will make engaging with us as a school faster, easier and more secure. It is hoped that by term 4, our school can move away from the various platforms we currently have so that our families are receiving accurate and consistent information. If you are having trouble accessing Compass please email Sarah.Waller@cg.catholic.edu.au.
