Dear STA Families,
“Never see a need without doing something about it.” (1871).
On Monday was the feast day of St Mary MacKillop. When talking with our students about what this quote means, it was humbling to listen to their responses. I would like to share some of these responses from our students with you….
…….“It means helping someone if i see them upset”
…...“It means not ignoring someone if they're feeling down”
…...“If you see someone doing wrong, tell the teacher”
…...“Speak up for those who feel they can’t”
…..”help my friend if they are feeling hurt”
…...”be brave and speak up”
…...”make a difference and don’t ignore wrongdoing”
What a powerful message these words can send to each of us.
We keep in our prayers and thoughts those in our community who are unwell and suffering serious illness. We pray for Michelle Woodward and Grace Balubun who both recently lost their dear Mum’s. May they know the strength and love of those around them.
This week we welcome Mrs Jo Reed to the role of acting Assistant Principal. Michael and Jo are continuing to handover this week and as a community STA will farewell Michael on his final day this Friday at 9.00am at our morning assembly.
All parents and carers are warmly welcome to join us outside for this farewell assembly.
My deep appreciation to our STA community for your understanding and support of our Pupil Free days this term. Our staff participated in professional planning and development last Friday and we’re all very grateful for this opportunity.
Our next pupil free day is Friday Week 8.
STA currently has vacancies on our School Board and P&F. If you would like to be considered for these positions, please contact me directly at Erin.marmont@cg.Catholic.edu.au we welcome the opportunity for you to become actively involved in our school community.
COMPASS NEWS:
Please ensure you have downloaded Compass to your device. You can begin to add attendance notes for your child. From the Compass Portal home screen on the bottom select + Add Attendance Note (Approved Absence/Late)
Parents then select a reason from the drop down option list, write in supporting comments and select the date the student will be absent (either current or future). The affected sessions then updates on the right hand side of the pop up informing the parent of all sessions that their child will miss. Once this is saved it will automatically be reflected in the class roll marking the student as absent.
Thank you for your support and patience as we all learn a new system.
Have a wonderful week,
Erin
Musicorp students at St Anthony’s learn a range of instruments and have made a wonderful start to the new semester. Students are currently working through their music books and on popular songs that we hope to perform later this year including Bad Habits, 7 Years and Never Gonna Give You Up.
I would like to make a special mention to Thomas Gough who has made a wonderful start to learning the guitar this year and demonstrates an excellent attitude towards learning an instrument.
We are always looking for more students to join in on the fun and learn an instrument at school. If you would like to enrol or for more information regarding the program, please contact Musicorp on 1300 858 911 or at https://rent.musicorp.com.au/tuition_online_eoi/
