We thank you Lord, for this term. For our challenges, our successes and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us over the coming weeks, as we spend some much needed time with our family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right, to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be peacemakers in our families.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our students, Staff, parents and the St Anthony’s community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
We ask for your richest blessings over Fr. Tony as he concludes his Sabbatical this term. Surround him with your loving care, keep him safe and return him to us, renewed and refreshed.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those challenged by serious and chronic mental and emotional illnesses. We pray for those in our school community who have recently had surgery and treatment for illness. Give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs, that they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care.
May they know our continued prayers and be comforted by our thoughts.
Amen
Welcome to our final newsletter of what has been a very busy and exciting term!
Regardless of the complexities with Covid and flu illnesses that our students, staff and school community have faced, it has certainly been evident that our school vision; we are better together than we are alone has been achieved through many different capacities.
Kinder 2023
This week, enrolment interviews have been finalised and confirmation of placements for Kindergarten 2023 have been sent out to families who will be joining our community.
Reports
Student reports were made accessible via Compass last Wednesday. There are no formal comments written on this Semester’s report, however, opportunities for Parent/Teacher interviews are being facilitated this week both online and face to face. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, efforts and development, as well as the grades in the report. The partnership between home and school is so important. Teachers really value your input and we look forward to continuing effective communication with you in semester two.
CE Director visit
Last Friday, our Director Ross Fox was welcomed to St Anthony’s. Ross enjoyed a tour of our primary school and ELC led by our school captains. In my discussions with Ross, some of the key points I shared with him were:
- The acknowledgement of hard work from all staff at STA and the specific tasks that are undertaken to support the teaching and learning in our school.
- Possibilities of continuation of 18 classes in 2023
- The pathway Goal 3 in our AIP to provide explicit support and transition between year levels, including our ELC.
- STA direction of our Annual Improvement Plan
- Urgency to seek approvals in conjunction with the master plan for:
- Upgrade of School Hall, including an amphitheatre and Upgrade to School and minor capital works to improve student toilet facilities
School board and P&F
In addition to this, School improvements are currently being discussed with our P&F and School Board, with the following areas being identified as key priorities:
- Update and makeover of Sensory Garden
- Senior fitness track/equipment
- Multipurpose soccer and rugby posts
- Front of school garden and entrance improvements with inclusion of Indigenous garden
Fundraising event for Term 3 & 4
- Colour run
- Mango drive
Our wonderful school Board continues to work incredibly hard to support the strategic direction of our school. The Board meets each term and provides the opportunity for members of the school, parish and Archdiocesan communities to support the mission of Catholic education in the school. Working with the Principal, Parish Priest and staff, the Board members provide leadership to the wider school community. The Board has a decision making role in certain policy areas and an advisory role in others. The policies of the school are always set within the wider mission of Catholic education. In the areas where it has responsibility for the development and monitoring of policy, the Board operates within the policy and procedures determined by the CEC and the CEO.
We invite nominations for the position of Parent Representative and Secretary of our school board,
Nominations can be made by contacting me directly via email erin.marmont@cg.catholic.edu.au or by phone 6231 4022.
Pupil free day
Monday 18 July (Beginning of Term 3)
Monday 18 July is a Pupil Free Day. Students do not attend school on this day.
Teachers and staff will be participating in a professional learning day at Merici College, on Spelling and Daily Review facilitated by Lorrainne Hammond as a part of our Catalyst Program.
Assistant Principal
Last Thursday myself and an experienced panel interviewed for the Assistant Principal position at STA for the remainder of 2022. An applicant has been appointed and I look forward to the opportunity to announce this with you, once contracts have been approved through Catholic Education.
Michael Bradley will continue on in his role as AP until Friday of Week 4 in Term 3. Details for Michael’s farewell will be shared with the community next term.
St Anthony’s has been blessed with incredibly flexible and professional teachers and staff who have adapted so well as a team, to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for our students. We have been so fortunate to have such a supportive and caring parent body. Without your help and tremendous support the school would not be the place it is today.
Thank you for a lovely term.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Tuesday, 19th July to begin Term 3.
Don’t forget to check out this week’s Good news Newsletter too!
Have a lovely week.
Kind regards
Erin
