This week is Harmony week. A time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. How wonderful it was to see so many students come to school dressed in our St Anthony’s 2022 theme, ‘We are better together than we are alone’ t-shirts along with some traditional dress and a sea of Orange and black proudly worn across the school. Thank you for your participation. Proceeds raised from the T-shirts will be gratefully received from Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion.
Last Thursday was the feast of St. Patrick (385-461). St Patrick proclaims peace and healing through the sending out of the seventy-two (Luke 10).
The Lord Jesus does the appointing – not us – and he sends us out ‘two-by-two,’ because there is strength in numbers.
Furthermore, as we travel the road ‘to all the towns and places Jesus himself is going to visit,’ we get time to chat – to talk about the successes and failures of the mission.
We are not meant to be on our own.
Yet, so many of us feel this way.
Lent – most assuredly a time to rediscover the ‘two-by-two.’
Amen.
The Gospel of Luke shares an important message for us all to connect with others in times of hardship and know that we are not meant to walk this road alone. Natural disasters, such as the recent floods are stressful and often traumatic. What takes place, and the speed with which it happens, can be chaotic, confusing, and overwhelming. Understandably, parents and carers may feel worried about the impact on their child. Provided on this link is a Factsheet, with some insights that might be helpful as you support your child at this difficult time.
Our school theme “We are better together than we are alone” continues to be a reminder for students to reach out when they feel troubled or unsure and ask for help. Our school is currently accessing a variety of support programs to assist our students as they navigate through their educational journey.

The ANU has developed an Online survey to guide in the development of a resource for parents that our school is observing closely to seek support for families.
Researchers at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University are developing a resource to help parents/carers better support the mental health needs of their children. ANU has developed this survey to enable parents/carers to share their views on the types of features and content that would be helpful in this resource. Information collected from this survey will assist in the development of this new resource.

My thanks for the continued amazing work of our hardworking teachers and staff. I am incredibly grateful to each of them and for the additional hours, especially this week that they have dedicated to ensure opportunities to meet with families to discuss student progress and well-being in Parent/Teacher conferences.
As we approach the final weeks of term one, our children are becoming increasingly tired. Keeping in mind that for many of our students, this is their first full term of schooling in a long period. Please continue to provide gentle reminders each morning of our school’s expectations of being kind to others and following our values of St Anthony’s Parish Primary School:
A reminder for families who have younger children who are looking to enrol in our St Anthony's Parish Primary School and ELC for 2023. The enrolment period is open and details can be found on our school website.
Have a lovely week.
With kind regards,
Erin Marmont
Principal
We would like to clarify the following:
- Adults should not get out of their vehicle when dropping students off out the front of the school.
- If there are no buses using the bus lane when you arrive in the morning, you are able to use this lane however buses have priority.
- If you do use the bus lane in the morning, please do so efficiently and do not make buses wait.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Another reminder to make sure your child has a drink bottle each day. All drink bottles can be refilled however the bubblers remain closed at this stage.
Thank you.
