St Anthony's Feast Day
Our school feast day was a beautiful celebration of St Anthony and our community. My thanks to our Year 6 leaders and teachers who led the school so well and provided meaningful activities for all our students.
St Anthony of Padua wasn’t just a saint; he was a powerhouse of knowledge and a captivating speaker who could turn complex theology into practical wisdom. Imagine a young man, born in Lisbon around 1195, diving deep into scripture and the Church Fathers, only to emerge as one of the most beloved saints and an influential teacher.
Entrusted by St. Francis himself to educate the friars, Anthony didn’t just lecture; he inspired. His sermons were legendary, unravelling the Bible’s layers-literal, allegorical, moral, and mystical- making it relevant to everyday life. He earned the title “Doctor Evangelicus” because he didn’t just teach; he ignited faith and understanding. St Anthony’s life reminds us that true education blends intellect with a burning desire to share truth.
Invitation to Participate in the Australian Government’s Anti-Bullying Rapid Review
Hon Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education invites our school community, including our staff, student and parent community to contribute to the Anti Bullying Rapid Review.
Bullying is a serious issue that affects students’ wellbeing and learning outcomes. While it occurs in many settings, schools are uniquely placed to intervene and support students. This Review, led by Dr Jo Robinson AM and Dr Charlotte Keating, aims to develop a national standard for addressing bullying in schools.
Online submissions are now open and will remain so until 20 June 2025. Submissions can be made anonymously and are open to students, parents, teachers, and school leaders. The process is designed to gather insights into current approaches and their effectiveness in managing bullying.
You can access the submission portal and the full Terms of Reference at:

Semester One Reports
This term, semester one reports will be shared with you via your Compass portal on Friday 27 June of week 9. Following the reports will be an opportunity for parents/carers to request an interview with their child’s teacher in week 10. Noting that there are no report comments this semester.
Teachers of students in Kindergarten to Year 6 report on how a student is progressing against achievement standards for each learning area or subject in the Australian Curriculum. The Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards describe the knowledge, skills and understandings a student is expected to learn in each subject for their year level.
The end-of-semester reports for students in Years 1 to 6 provide parents with an assessment of their children’s achievement against the Achievement Standards in the Australian Curriculum for each subject studied. Grades from A to E are used to report on student progress against the standards.
The following is an outline on how the teachers have allocated grades for semester reports. Noting that the A-E grade scale is used for Year 1-6.

When a student receives a ‘C’ grade, it means they have demonstrated the quality of learning described in the Achievement Standard, based on the content studied in the reporting period. If a student receives a ‘C’ in both semester 1 and 2 reports, it indicates that the student has made progress, and learned new knowledge and skills based on the new and more challenging material studied.
Teachers have undergone a rigorous moderation process when allocating grades by using formative, summative and diagnostic student assessments, along with on-balanced teacher judgement to determine grades. Conversations with your child’s teacher is essential to understanding how your child is progressing. I strongly encourage parents/carers to meet with your child’s teacher in week 10. Bookings can be made by logging into Compass and selecting the ‘Book Parent Student Teacher Conference’ from the options listed below your child’s name and photo.
Student Reports and interviews
An enormous thanks to our teachers who have worked tirelessly over the past weeks and months preparing Semester 1 reports. This semester, student reports will include grades and an opportunity for an interview with families.
The option to book parent-teacher interviews for Week 10 is now open and will close on Thursday 26 June. Reports will be released via Compass on Friday 27 June.
Monday morning assemblies
A reminder that we have a short assembly every Monday morning following the bell at 8.55. In this time, we acknowledge Country, share prayer together, announce birthdays for the week and celebrate student achievement with class awards, as well as remind the school of general items. If there is a public holiday on a Monday, this assembly takes place on a Tuesday morning.
Student absences
It is a requirement that an explanatory note for any absence is provided to the school from parents/carers for students in their care. Explanations for student absences can be quickly and easily submitted via Compass. When you access your child’s Compass profile via the app, you will see any outstanding explanations for absences highlighted in a green box to the right of the screen. You can then select the date/s that your child was away and type in a reason for their absence, which will then automatically update your child’s attendance record. If you would like more information or assistance on how to do this, please feel free to contact the school.
Reminder - On Thursday 19 June, students are invited to come to school dressed in their winter warmer clothes or PJ's and donate a gold coin to assist in raising funds for St Vincent DePaul. All funds will be raised to support the Vinnies CEO sleepout. It is probably best to save children’s slippers for indoors, rather than them being ruined in the outdoor environment. Please encourage your child/ren to wear runners with their PJ’s.
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. This year I'm taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, I'll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.
To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, I need your support. If you are able to donate, please follow the link, every little bit helps. Vinnies CEO have let me know that an anonymous donor will now match every donation across all participants until their donor match of $50,000 reached. From 8am on Wednesday 4 June, all eligible donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar until the donor matched is reached. SO…. every little bit helps (and on Wednesday from 8am can be doubled):
