“Never see a need without doing something about it.” (1871).
Today is the feast day of St Mary MacKillop. When talking with our students about what this quote means, it was humbling to listen to their responses. I would like to share some of these responses from our students with you….
“It means if you see someone hurt or upset, don’t just leave them: ask them if they are OK”
“When something is wrong or when someone is sad you go to them and make sure they are OK”
“This means always help people, even if you don’t know them, if they’re hurt, sad or sick”
“I think it means if you see something that’s not quite right you help where you can”
What a powerful message these words can send to each of us.
We keep in our prayers and thoughts those in our community who are unwell and suffering serious illness. We pray for members of our school community who have recently lost a loved one or have an anniversary of losing a loved one at this time. May they know the strength and love of those around them.
We thank You Lord, especially for our dedicated parents and devoted community members, who tirelessly contribute their time, resources, and wisdom to aid our school and shape it into a beacon of enlightenment, virtue, and knowledge.
We are grateful for their love and their sacrifices that nurture and fortify St Anthony’s Primary School. Their unwavering support in our mission of educating young minds mirrors Your divine love for all of humanity.
Lord, bless them abundantly for their selfless acts. Empower them with your grace, strengthen them in their efforts, and let their good deeds bear fruit in the lives of the students they are helping to shape.
We pray that our school, under their caring guardianship and with Your divine guidance, continues to be a place where every child learns to love, grow, and serve, embodying the values of our faith.
May the light of Your love continue to shine through the hearts of these extraordinary individuals. Grant them peace and fill their lives with Your blessings as they have filled ours.
Amen

What an incredible community we have here at STA. A huge thank you to all of our helpers who came along to assist with rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows on Saturday 29 July.
Our front garden project is being undertaken with assistance from the ACT Government under the Parent Engagement Grant Program. The garden is really coming along and we have planned for another working bee on Saturday 12 August from 9.30-1.30. A special thank you to the school P&F for their organisation, planning and overall assistance in bringing this garden to life. We currently have the last day of term scheduled for the official opening of the garden - watch this space!
Rostrum Public Speaking competition
Congratulations to Emily Rollinson who participated in the Rostrum Public Speaking semifinals on Thursday of Week 2 at Torreens Primary School. Emily did an outstanding job and represented herself and St Anthony's with absolute class.
Students need to ensure that they have a school hat every day in order to be able to play outside in the sun from August until the end of the year. Our sun safety policy is that students do not have to wear a hat in the months of June and July due to the colder months with less sunshine.
