We thank you Lord, for this term. For our challenges, our successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our term break with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others and to be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for the wonderful school and faith community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
Prayers
We pray for Vicki, her mum Judy and the Beissner and Simpson families and friends, after Vicki’s dear Dad Bryan passed away peacefully on Saturday.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen.
Reports
Student reports were made accessible via Compass last Wednesday. There are no formal comments written on this Semester’s report, however, opportunities for Parent/Teacher interviews are being facilitated this week both online and face to face. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, efforts and development, as well as the grades in the report. The partnership between home and school is so important. Teachers really value your input and we look forward to continuing effective communication with you in semester two.
Pupil free day
Monday 17 July (Beginning of Term 3), students do not attend school on pupil free day and OOSCA will NOT be open.
School fete
Our school captains recently had the opportunity to personally thank and present certificates of thanks to local businesses for their contributions and donations to our school fete. Thank you to Sharon Sheather from the school P&F for organising this opportunity. It was a pleasure to talk with these business owners, extend our gratitude and share in the delight of working together to provide a school fete that is of benefit to the whole Wanniassa community, not just to St Anthony’s. We are very lucky to have such a supportive community.

Year 5/6 Tuggeranong Term 2 Gala Day
Week 9 saw students from Year 5/6 play in the Tuggeranong Gala Day. Students were very excited and expertly prepared by Mrs Stankovic to take on some of the best players in the Tuggeranong region. The cold weather couldn’t contain their excitement as they headed to the Deakin Netball courts for what was going to be a hotly contested day. It was a busy day with the two teams on and off the court non stop, playing some top level competition. Overall it was a great day even if the weather tried to ruin it. Congratulations to all the players and a massive thank you to Mrs Stankovic and all the parent helpers/coaches on the day.
The students who represented the school were
Sophie A, Isabelle B, Katie B, Elettra C, Will C, Alyssa D, Norah F, Rebecca F, Elyse H, Laicey K, Gabrielle L, Gabrielle L, Charlotte L, Isabella O, Michala O, Ivy R, Lacey W, Liam C
Year 3/4 Tuggeranong Gala Day
We wish all of our students competing in the Year 3/4 Tuggeranong Gala Day on Thursday of week 10 the best of luck. Mrs Beissner is extremely excited to lend her expert coaching on the day and has promised to bring back excellent results.
Permission Notes on Compass
All sport days will have permission notes published on compass. It is vital that these are completed by the due date to ensure students place on the team. No late entries will be accepted. Permission notes will close approximately 1 week before the competition date. This is to ensure we can enter correct number of teams, organize team lists and send out any final information.
Students must have completed a compass permission note before the due date to be considered for team selection.
If you have any issues with compass please contact the school asap.
GWS Giants AFWL Visit
On Friday 23rd June Year 6 were treated to a visit by players from the GWS Giants AFLW team. The players spoke with Year 6 about what is like to play in the AFLW competition, the commitment required to be a top level athlete and how they juggle their playing career with the rest of their life. It was a great insight into what it takes to be a professional athlete and definitely inspired the next generation. The students then took the chance to show off their kicking ability in a kick to kick with the players.
It was a great afternoon and a big thank you to the GWS Giants giving up their time before a big game to spend the afternoon with us. It definitely created a few more Giants fans!
New Jerseys have arrived!
Students and staff were very keen to see the new sports jerseys we are lucky to have for our sports gala days. A big thankyou to Mrs Marmont and our School Board for supporting the purchase of the new jerseys. Cant wait to see them in action on the field in term 3!
