We pray for all involved in the ministry of education. Like Jesus may they be clear, courageous and strong as they pass values of compassion and justice to future generations. May our support for Project Compassion continue to make education more widely available. Amen.
Welcome to week 4,
This Wednesday, our St Anthony’s community begins its Lenten journey together with Father Tom for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. Parents and carers are welcome to join us in the hall at 10.00am. Lent is a time of preparation for the gift of new life that we receive at Easter. During this time we are called to reflect upon our need for God and to address those things in our lives that distract us from the wholeness that only God can bring. Perhaps this may also be a time where instead of giving something up, we choose to give or do something for others. Seeing Jesus in the face of others can sometimes be challenging, let this be an opportunity to rise above the frustrations and at times, anger and be more like our God through showing acts of love and kindness towards others, even when they do you wrong.
Caritas Australia's Project Compassion:
During Lent, we support Project Compassion. Donation boxes will be distributed to classes prior to Wednesday. Please encourage your children to bring in donations to support this cause. Donations can also be made via the QKR! app.
Harmony Day T-Shirts
This year, to support Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, we are again offering all children, staff and family members, the opportunity to purchase a St Anthony’s ‘Flourish’ t-shirt. Each t-shirt costs $25 with a percentage of the cost going to Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. These t-shirts will be a wonderful addition to our Harmony Day celebrations in Week 8. T-shirt sizes range from children's 4-14 through to adult's XXL.
Orders are to be placed via the QKR! app and close on Thursday 2nd March at 4:00pm.
P&F
Last Wednesday our P&F met together and shared in the wonderful things that are happening at STA this term. If you would like to be a part of these meetings, the P&F will meet again in person on Wednesday, 15 March from 6.00pm-7.00pm in the school library.

Our school board is looking for parents/carers to join. If you are interested, please staschoolboard@cg.catholic.edu.au.
COMPASS
Communication on COMPASS- please see detail below on how to access COMPASS from different platforms. If you are needing to contact your child’s teacher, step by step details can be found on this page. If you have any queries or concerns, please email Garreth Wigg via email on garreth.wigg@cg.catholic.edu.au. We very much value your communication and are happy to assist with the communication changes at STA.
Year 6 Camp
This week our Year 6 students will travel to Berry for our Year 6 camp. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school leaders to participate in team building activities, outdoor challenges and exciting times together. My sincere thanks to Mrs Laura Stankovic, Mrs Heather Naylor, Miss Bernadette Whitfield and Mr Garreth Wigg who will be accompanying our students to their camp. I very much appreciate the energy, additional hours and enthusiasm each of these teachers will provide for our students. My thanks also to their own families for supporting our teachers attending the camp and being away from loved ones.
GALA DAYS
It is wonderful to share in the opportunities for our students to participate in Gala days across Canberra in many different codes. It does however mean that for these events to go ahead, parent/carer volunteers are needed to coach/manage and support the teams. We have an allocation of teachers attending these events, yet unfortunately at this stage we don’t have the number of coaches and managers to create multiple teams so that students have an opportunity to participate.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these events, please contact our Sports coordinator via email on josh.mcgrath1@cg.catholic.edu.au asap.
SIGNING IN AND OUT
A reminder that the school day begins at 8.55am. If your child is late to school, it is a requirement that the parent/carer sign their child in at school through the front office.
This is the same process for when a child is leaving early.
