Dear STA Families,
Welcome to our final newsletter for Term 4, 2022.
A reminder that our last day of term is this Thursday.
This afternoon school reports will be available to you via Compass portal from 3.05pm, instructions will be shared on how you can access reports.
I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to lead alongside Father Tony the St Anthony’s School community this year. I especially feel honoured to have worked closely with many parents and students, our School board, P&F and our committed staff, during this time. I would like to thank Fr Tony and the St Anthony’s Parish family for their continued support and prayers for our school, we are truly blessed to have such a strong connection with them. I thank Mrs Jo Reed for her contributions to our school this semester as acting in the Assistant Principal role. I also thank our dedicated staff, who strive daily to make a difference in the lives of all our students as inspirational and passionate educators.
I am delighted to welcome back Mrs Tracey Adamson and Mr Ben McDevitt to STA along with welcoming the following teachers who have transferred to our school from 2023: Mrs Shannon Henry from St Jude’s, Mr Ben Mockler from St Gregorys, Mrs Monika Richards from St Monica’s, Mr Joe McGrath from St Clare of Assisi and Mr Simon VanMeurs from Jerrabomberra Primary.
I am also excited to welcome back Italian lessons as a part of the language curriculum at STA.
FAREWELL: In 2022 we farewell some wonderful staff who have given their commitment to STA over a number of years. There will be an opportunity to farewell these staff at our whole school Thanksgiving Liturgy in the hall on Thursday 15 December from 10.00am. Families are welcome to attend. We thank them each for their dedication, service and hardwork in the time they have worked at St Anthony’s Parish Primary School and wish them all the very best for their future endeavours:
Father Tony Percy
Mrs Jo Reed
Mr Angas Quantrill
Mrs Kerrie Fradgley
Mrs Candace Goffin
Miss Kathryn Liston
Miss Jasmine Pitts
Mr Nick Purcell
Ms Sharon Fuller
Mrs Michelle Woodward
Michelle Woodward, Director of our Early Learning Centre, has successfully been appointed to Catholic Education as Dynamic Director of Early Learning Centres for the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn. Michelle has been a wonderful asset to our school and a genuine advocate for early childhood education. I would like to congratulate Mrs Bec MacKay who has been appointed to the role of St Anthony’s ELC director. May I take this opportunity to congratulate Bec on her position and look forward to working alongside her in her Director role of our ELC from 2023.
We also farewell our wonderful cohort of Year 6 students. How wonderful it has been to see our Year 6’s journey through their final year of primary school. It has been heartwarming to witness the final celebrations over the past week with the Graduation liturgy and dinner. We look forward to big splash today and the Candle ceremony tomorrow, followed by our whole school Thanksgiving Liturgy on Thursday.
PRAYERS:
We keep in our prayers the De La Mezzo family. Sadly, Wayne De La Mezzo, father of Asher in Year 3 and Brayden in Kindergarten, passed away last Tuesday. We pray for Asher and Brayden and their Mum Fiona, for their loss. We have offered the condolences of our school community to the family together with any support or help we are able to provide.
We continue to pray for the Miller Family and for those who are without their loved ones over Christmas. Particularly for families, where this Christmas is their first experience without their loved one. We pray for you. We pray for our Anthony’’s community. May you stay safe over the Christmas period.
THANK YOU: To the many parents, carers and grandparents who have supported the school in so many ways during 2022 – School Board, P&F, Canteen helpers, excursions, sporting events, community events, fundraising and so many other ways.
Thank you. I am incredibly excited to welcome families back into our school in 2023 and the number of planned events we already have on the calendar, including a fete!
COVID- RATS
This week, your child will be provided with some Rapid Antigen Tests to take home. Catholic Education has provided us with these additional supplies to distribute to our student community. As we approach our final days of term, we encourage all students who are feeling unwell to remain at home until they are well enough to return to school. Thank you for your continued support and understanding in keeping our students and their families safe and well.
SCHOOL UNIFORM: To prepare for the new school year, I have included a list of uniform expectations from Term 1. Please be reminded that the correct school uniform MUST be worn each day of the school year. Hair should be of natural colour and if longer than shoulder length, needs to be tied up. A reminder also for our students of the importance of wearing a hat when playing outdoors during the year (with the exception of June and July). I ask that you ensure that all items are labelled very clearly to begin the new school year.
The clothing pool will be open during the January holidays. The date to be advised via Compass and our Facebook page. Alternatively, uniforms can be purchased from Lowes Tuggeranong. Thank you.

TERM 1 2023: The students return for Term 1 on Tuesday 31st January 2023
This Thursday, STA will have a step up day. This is an opportunity for our students to meet their 2023 class teacher and participate in some activities with their 2023 classmates. As outlined in previous weeks, a great deal of time and consideration has gone into the preparation and finalisation of classes. Along with this has been the allocation of teachers across the school. We have experienced, professional and hard working staff across our school and I am confident that your child will be supported and provided with the best possible learning opportunities in each of our classes. I thank you for your trust and understanding of this process by not requesting specific teachers.
