May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the earth. As a God of renewal, You are ever at work in our lives, too. Open our eyes and lives to the needed changes in our lives this Spring. Awaken us to new life and perspective, for we pray in Jesus' name.
We pray for our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation over the weekend and continue to pray for our students who are currently preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
We pray in Jesus' name.
Amen
Welcome to Term 4.
The sun is beginning to shine and our days are getting a little longer! How lovely it has been to welcome our students back to school this term. I hope the past few weeks have provided some time to reset and rejuvenate.
We have some exciting events planned for this term, including Bubble day this Thursday, Wellbeing Wednesdays, Mackillop Musical, Catholic Missions Rice day and the Colour Run! This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome our families onto our school grounds and be a part of some fun and excitement with our students. In addition to this, I know our teachers have planned some wonderful excursions around Canberra for our students and Year 6 are busy planning for the Graduation. There is much to celebrate, please keep an eye out for further details in the weeks ahead.
Many of you may have seen in our Parish Bulletin the news of Father Tony moving to St Gregory’s Parish in Queanbeyan. How blessed we have been to have Father Tony leading our community and being so involved in the life of our school. Next year we warmly welcome Father Tom Thornton to St Anthony’s as our Parish Priest. I know you will make Father Tom feel welcome and I am very much looking forward to Father Tom being a part of our school community and leading our Parish.
I thank parents for their understanding around staff absences this year. I appreciate that the last few years have proved difficult to maintain consistency of staff, particularly during a pandemic. Fortunately, we have limited the need to split classes across the school, and I thank our staff for their flexibility in being willing to move into different roles to ensure classes are covered by teachers during absences.
We warmly welcome parents to join us for morning assemblies on the asphalt from 9.00am. Parents are also now able to sign children in and out at the office.
This term, Semester reports are being sent home in Week 10. As a system, Catholic Education schools are providing graded reports with no comments. Instead, parents/carers are invited to meet with their child’s teacher in Week 9 for a parent/teacher conference to discuss student progress, strengths and goals. Opportunities to schedule an interview with your child’s teacher will be provided to you in week 8 via Compass. These will take place with the option of on-line or in person.
Communication
As outlined in our Annual Improvement Plan, our lines of communication will move solely to Compass in 2023. This is a system wide initiative. We hope over this term, any concerns or problems families are having with Compass will be resolved. Please don’t hesitate to contact the office if you are having difficulties navigating Compass.
Have a lovely week.
