Happy Fathers Day
So what is it about Bandit that makes him Top Dog and how can he inspire us this Father’s Day?
How to Dad like Bandit in 10 easy steps:
- Be patient
- Be present
- Be real (hands up who can relate to Bandit scrolling on his phone during hide and seek, or just wanting to sit and read his newspaper)
- Interact with your kids regularly and often
- Tell your kids you love them to bits - don't assume they know this
- Give your children space
- Give your children autonomy
- No power plays - just talk to your offspring like you actually enjoy their company and genuinely like them.
- Hold firm and appropriate limits and expectations (in line with the developmental capacity of your little ones)
- Have some fun!
The brilliance of Bluey lies in the simplicity of every episode. The plotlines are quite minimal, and the ensuing drama is VERY relatable.
I think we can all agree that parenting is exhausting, and that nothing is easy or straightforward ever again.
And on that note, we can celebrate Bandit for showing us that we don't have to be a perfect Dad, just a PERFECTLY IMPERFECT one; present, playful, and participating in relationships.
