School fete news and information

Our school fete is on Saturday, May 4 from 10am to 3pm.

It is a great day celebrated by the whole community. It also raises some much-needed funds outside the normal school budget.

You may have noticed the new play equipment being assembled near the OOSCA building. This was funded by some of the money raised by last year's fete. We do ask for some help in the next few weeks to ensure the fete is a great success. We'd also love for you to donate even an hour of your time on fete day - it's good fun and a great way to get to know other members of the school community.
Here is an outline of how you can help in the coming weeks:
Raffle tickets. A book of 10 raffle tickets has gone home with the eldest child in the family. Each ticket costs $2. Even if you decide to buy the whole book, you must fill out every stub and return it to the school. There is no compulsion to buy the tickets. But if you do, please return the stubs and cash only to the front office. If you don't sell the books, please return them to the school.  There are some great cash prizes. Anyone who wants extra books, please contact the school office.
Bunnings Tuggeranong cake stall on Saturday, March 16 from 10am to 2pm. This is a great opportunity to raise some funds to cover our fete expenses. If you can bake and donate an item, that would be very much appreciated. Please put on a disposable plate, cover it with cling wrap/freezer bag, and drop at the front office on Friday, March 15. Don't forget to list the ingredients for each item, just to ensure there are no problems with allergies.
Our next open shed for a donation of clothes, books, toys, bric-a-brac, sporting equipment, homewares, DVDS, CDS etc is Saturday, March 23 from 9.30am to 11.30am. Please could everything be clean and in working order. No electrical items thank you. Please drop off at the school hall. We appreciate everyone’s generosity.
In Week 9, we will send home a small plastic container for the pick-a-pot stall. You can fill it with all kinds of things - small toys, balloons, wrapped lollies, notebooks, erasers, stickers, soaps, bath bombs, pencils, fridge magnets. Please return the filled container to the school by the end of Week 1 Term 2.
Our Mother's Day hampers are very popular at the fete and an inexpensive way to get mum or any other special lady a gift for Mother's Day, which is the weekend after the fete. We rely on donations of small, inexpensive items. Each year has been allocated an item to bring in. Please bring them in before the end of the term and give them to either the front office or the class teacher:
ELC:                    Pen or small notebook
Kindergarten     Decorative ribbon to tie baskets
Year 1:                Washer
Year 2:                Nail polish
Year 3:                Chocolate
Year 4                 Soap
Year 5                 Tea bags
Year 6                 Face masks
There will be a uniform-free day on the last day of term one, Friday April 12. We will be asking each student, if they can, to please bring in a bar of chocolate for the chocolate trailer.
In the first week of term 2, we will send home a paper plate, ingredients label and plastic bag for donations to the fete cake stall. Cakes, slices, biscuits, fudge and so on can be dropped off on Friday, May 3, the day before the fete, to the school or straight to the cake stall before 10am on fete day, Saturday, May 4.
We will be having our student cake decorating competition at the fete again this year. There are two themes to choose from: space or Mother's Day. There will be great prizes. A note to enter will go home before the end of Term 1. This was a really delightful part of the fete last year and showcased what creative students we have at St Anthony's! (Cakes are dropped off on the day of the fete, displayed in the hall and judged during the day).
Finally, the link to sign up to be a volunteer on the day of the fete is now live. Please go to https://volunteersignup.org/WJ7PQ and pick a slot to man your favourite stall, even for an hour.
We know there is quite a bit on this list. Nothing has to be expensive or over the top. We understand it may be difficult for people to donate to everything. The fete committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and enthusiasm to date and we will do all we can to make sure the event is a great day for everyone.
All the best and thank you
