Preschool News

Throughout Book Week I have also been meeting with lots of the families enrolled at the ELC for 2024, with many of them asking me if there is anything they can do to prepare their child for Preschool. I know that our teachers also often get asked that question as the beginning of Kindergarten and student’s journey to school gets closer. My answer is always – the very best thing you can do to prepare your child as a learner is to read to them – everyday! Reading together teaches children so much about print and stories, it encourages language skills through discussion and is also a lovely way of sharing a quiet moment together. Don’t ever underestimate the power of reading to your child!
On that note - a big thank you to each of our mums, dads and grandparents who dropped in to the ELC for some story reading time on Friday. The sun was shining and we had a gorgeous day to enjoy ‘Books and Brunch’. Every child had the chance to join in with a small group for some story reading during their morning tea. It was a lovely community moment – thanks so much for giving up some of your time to come and join us!
A big thank you also to our talented school librarian Danielle Smith for organising so many fun events for us to join in with to celebrate Book Week.
